To date, Varicent has awarded over $550,000 in scholarships to reinforce its commitment to diversity.
August 29, 2023 (Toronto, ON) – Varicent, an industry-leading sales performance management company, is proud to announce it has selected 20 recipients for this year’s E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program. The Varicent E.D.G.E. Scholarship program that launched in 2021 has been running for three consecutive years. 37 previous recipients have renewed their scholarships this year. Recipients can renew their scholarship for up to three years.
The E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program (which stands for Equity, Diversity, Growth, Empowerment) was created to foster more opportunities for diversity within the technology sector for historically underrepresented people, specifically women and Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC). The program provides scholarships of $5,000 USD to high school seniors or current undergraduates located in Canada or the U.S. who plan to pursue a STEM-related major such as computer science, data science, and engineering.
“This scholarship program is more than just financial support, it is about empowering untapped potential and continuing to build our connection with a more diverse and vibrant tech community,” said Marc Altshuller, CEO, Varicent. “By investing in these students, we’re allowing them to focus on their goals and create a future with talent and innovation from all backgrounds. Thank you to everyone who has made this ongoing initiative a success.”
The E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program is one of the initiatives under Varicent’s corporate social responsibility. Varicent is determined to apply science and technology to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, creating diverse and meaningful change in the workforce.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, North America’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.
Recipients of the E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program must be high school seniors, students in their final year of upper secondary school, high school/upper secondary school graduates or current college undergraduates (including CEGEP students) located in the U.S. and Canada. Eligible students must be planning to pursue a STEM/technology-related major including, but not limited to, computer science, data science, engineering, information technology, and mathematics. Scholarship recipients were selected based on several criteria reviewed by an internal selection committee within Varicent.
